We are back in the shoppe and in full swing – ready to start the New Year!  We had a wonderful, restful holiday; it was the perfect ending to a blessed year.  And, just like that, it’s almost Valentine’s Day!  I know, I know, it’s still a month away.  But believe me, it will sneak up on you SO fast.  I’m speaking from experience… because it happens to us EVERY year!

Flowers, tea, chocolate, perfume, lotion… our shoppe is made for Valentine’s Day!  This is pretty much the Petal & Kettle holiday.  So, if you are in need of a gift for ‘her’ — which, everybody should be (all women love to be loved, you know!) — we’ve got the goods.

On the Waterfront

We are convinced, the best way to fully enjoy a West Coast grey day like today is with a cup of Organic ‘On the Waterfront’ herbal tea in hand.  With delicious notes of mint, peach and spice, it’s the perfect complement to your foggy day.

Feeling weary?

Well, we’ve got just the thing for you. Our shoppe is full to the brim with all sorts of different green and oolong teas – which contain powerful antioxidants.  (And, bonus: they taste delicious!)

What are antioxidants you say?  Well, according to the University of Maryland Medical Centre, “Antioxidants are substances that fight free radicals — damaging compounds in the body that change cells, damage DNA, and even cause cell death. Many scientists believe that free radicals contribute to the aging process, as well as the development of a number of health problems, including cancer and heart disease. Antioxidants, such as polyphenols in green tea, can neutralize free radicals and may reduce or even help prevent some of the damage they cause.”

“In traditional Chinese and Indian medicine, practitioners used green tea as a stimulant, a diuretic (to help rid the body of excess fluid), an astringent (to control bleeding and help heal wounds), and to improve heart health. Other traditional uses of green tea include treating gas, regulating body temperature and blood sugar, promoting digestion, and improving mental processes.”  Click here to read more from the Maryland Medical Centre about the health benefits of green tea.

This American Small Batch Perfumery is brought to life with hand-drawn illustrations, hand-created type and free-spirited layout.  We carry two different perfume fragrances – Arboretum (seen below), and Wildflower & Fern (below the photo of Arboretum).  Each fragrance is so unique and endearing.

Did you know, 92% of women remember the last time they received flowers and 89% say it makes them happy?Nature___Flowers_Red_roses_on_a_white_table_on_a_white_background_056460_

This means, it’s not only the ladies who benefit. Women remember that happy feeling long after the gift is received – putting you in her good books for weeks! And if you like the idea of that, consider a pre-ordered monthly bouquet when you place your Valentine’s order.

You don’t need to go big; it truly is the sentiment that counts. Whether your budget is $20, $50 or $100, the most important thing is that the bouquet represents emotion. Having a florist that you trust and being able to provide a couple of personality traits about the person can make all the difference. Is she bright and cheery; soft and romantic; or maybe even a little on the wild side? A good florist can emulate this through flowers – really!

My last piece of advice to undoubtedly impress her this year: send flowers to her workplace on Friday (Feb 13th) and bring her breakfast in bed on Saturday morning (Feb 14th). Not only do you get to skip an early morning trip to the busy shops, but you also make a big impression with her friends & colleagues. Win-win.

Just think of all the points you will gain with a little pre-planning and a quick phone call.

As promised, here are the pictures from our photoshoot with Captured Essence Photography.

Seriously, how much fun was that!  They totally pampered us.  And the hair & makeup?  Amazing.

It truly felt like a day at the spa.

The goal at Captured Essence is to help women see how beautiful they really are.  And we think that every woman should have an experience like this.  Especially those that spend their days tending to others and rarely have time for themselves.  Yes, we mean Moms!

So that’s why we are teaming up together, in honour of Mother’s Day.

Each week leading up to May 11th (Mother’s Day), we will giveaway a bouquet with a $200 gift certificate towards a Mom & Daughter photo shoot.  OR, fellas, treat your gal to a photo shoot so she can see what a hot mama she really is!  To enter, make sure to share our Facebook posts and ‘Like’ the Captured Essence Facebook page.

We will also be giving away Captured Essence gift certificates, valued at $200 each, to the first 100 orders we receive in our shoppe for Mother’s Day.  {and no, we’re not kidding!  Make sure to get your order in soon!}
Note:  After your photo shoot, there are many different printing packages to choose from.  And payment plans are also available.  For more information, contact Brooke at Captured Essence Photography.

The Kati Cup

6316

One of our favourite tea accessories this year is the Cherry Blossom Kati cup by Tea Forte.  Especially as we head into cherry blossom season here in beautiful British Columbia!  Seriously, take a look at this beauty.

The innovative double-wall construction keeps your tea hot and the tumbler super cozy to hold.  And for loose tea lovers, it comes with a stainless steel mesh infuser that brews a generous 12oz cup.  AND, it’s dishwasher and microwave safe to boot.

And just to make the whole thing even sweeter – pair it with our sustainable harvest loose leaf Cherry Blossom Green Tea.  Yum.

Even Oprah thinks it’s awesome…
