We are back in the shoppe and in full swing – ready to start the New Year!  We had a wonderful, restful holiday; it was the perfect ending to a blessed year.  And, just like that, it’s almost Valentine’s Day!  I know, I know, it’s still a month away.  But believe me, it will sneak up on you SO fast.  I’m speaking from experience… because it happens to us EVERY year!

Flowers, tea, chocolate, perfume, lotion… our shoppe is made for Valentine’s Day!  This is pretty much the Petal & Kettle holiday.  So, if you are in need of a gift for ‘her’ — which, everybody should be (all women love to be loved, you know!) — we’ve got the goods.

Feeling weary?

Well, we’ve got just the thing for you. Our shoppe is full to the brim with all sorts of different green and oolong teas – which contain powerful antioxidants.  (And, bonus: they taste delicious!)

What are antioxidants you say?  Well, according to the University of Maryland Medical Centre, “Antioxidants are substances that fight free radicals — damaging compounds in the body that change cells, damage DNA, and even cause cell death. Many scientists believe that free radicals contribute to the aging process, as well as the development of a number of health problems, including cancer and heart disease. Antioxidants, such as polyphenols in green tea, can neutralize free radicals and may reduce or even help prevent some of the damage they cause.”

“In traditional Chinese and Indian medicine, practitioners used green tea as a stimulant, a diuretic (to help rid the body of excess fluid), an astringent (to control bleeding and help heal wounds), and to improve heart health. Library of Flowers

We have a brand new product line in our shoppe called ‘Library of Flowers’ and we are super excited about it.  Perfume, créme, bubble bath – it’s all soo good.

This American Small Batch Perfumery is brought to life with hand-drawn illustrations, hand-created type and free-spirited layout.  We carry two different perfume fragrances – Arboretum (seen below), and Wildflower & Fern (below the photo of Arboretum).  Each fragrance is so unique and endearing.

What every guy needs to know about Valentine’s Day

Did you know, 92% of women remember the last time they received flowers and 89% say it makes them happy?

This means, it’s not only the ladies who benefit. Women remember that happy feeling long after the gift is received – putting you in her good books for weeks! And if you like the idea of that, consider a pre-ordered monthly bouquet when you place your Valentine’s order.

You don’t need to go big; it truly is the sentiment that counts. Whether your budget is $20, $50 or $100, the most important thing is that the bouquet represents emotion. Having a florist that you trust and being able to provide a couple of personality traits about the person can make all the difference. Is she bright and cheery; soft and romantic; or maybe even a little on the wild side? A good florist can emulate this through flowers – really!

My last piece of advice to undoubtedly impress her this year: send flowers to her workplace on Friday (Feb 13^th) and bring her breakfast in bed on Saturday morning (Feb 14^th). Not only do you get to skip an early morning trip to the busy shops, but you also make a big impression with her friends & colleagues. Win-win.

Captured Essence photoshoot & giveaway

Seriously, how much fun was that!  They totally pampered us.  And the hair & makeup?  Amazing.

It truly felt like a day at the spa.
